An afternoon of games
Cards, a board, and a lot of talk. The game is an excuse to sit at the same table.

Nobody keeps a serious score. A game of cards lasts as long as people are enjoying it, and it ends when someone would rather talk. The table is the point.
Residents who do not want to play still pull a chair near enough to hear. A volunteer explains a move only if asked. Winning is less interesting than the argument about whose turn it was.
We put the board away before maghrib so the room can be cleared for the evening meal. The pieces live in one cupboard. If a piece goes missing, the game continues anyway.
